Background and Aims: Universities of medical sciences need motivated faculty members as one of the stone corners of education to be effective in educating students and promoting health sector. Considering the importance of faculty members' job satisfaction in promoting educational goals and creating more efficiency, this study aimed for evaluating the job satisfaction of the faculty members of Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences in 2015.
Materials and Methods: This study was a cross-sectional study. The study population included all faculty members of Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences. Data were collected via a checklist consisted of demographic data, such as gender, age, educational level, academic degree, employment status and work experience, and the Herzberg job satisfaction standard questionnaire. Data were analyzed using T test and chi-square by SPSS 16.
Results: The subjects were 32% woman and 68% man. The mean job satisfaction score was 4.79 ± 0.83.   The lowest satisfaction score was related to the satisfaction of salaries and the highest score was the satisfaction of the type of work.   There was no statistically significant relationship between gender, age, marital status and work experience with job satisfaction of university faculty members (p>0.05). There was a significant relationship between employment status and type of faculty with job satisfaction (p <0.05).
Conclusion: The faculty members of Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences generally had moderate job satisfaction. The highest satisfaction was related to the nature of work and the lowest satisfaction was related to salary.
