The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of using drugs and its related factors in body-building athletes in Sanandaj. Material and Methods: In this cross - sectional study, 199 Sanandaj's body-builder athletes were interviewed. Sampling was stratified by random. Demographic and drug taking data's were collected by questionnaire and finally analyzed by SPSS 22. Results: 32.6 percent used drugs. The most common used materials were, keratin (25 percent) and protein (19 percent). There was no significant correlation between drug taking and age (P=0.193) and education (P=0.344). Significant negative correlation was between performance-enhancing drugs takers and smoking (P<0.05), and Athletes with more than 2 years of experience are the largest number of drug consumers (P=0.008). Their most common reason of taking drugs was fitness. (76.56) (P<0.05). Conclusion: The prevalence of drug taking in this study was lower than most of internal investigation results, so by increasing use of performance-enhancing drugs, prevention programs and athletes and couches training about the side effects of drugs is recommended.
