Background and Aim: One of the consequences of family destruction is marital conflicts among couples. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of sexual schemas and sexual function with marital conflicts among women involved in domestic violence who were referred to forensic medicine in Sari.
Material and Method: The present study was descriptive-correlational study conducted in Sari on women referring to forensic medicine organization of Sari. Among them, 134 people were recruited by simple non-random sampling method in the first half of 2016. Data were collected by Sex Schemes questionnaires (50 questions) of Syrianuski and Anderson (1994), Sexual Function questionnaire of Rosen et al, (2000) with 19 questions and Sanaei marital conflicts questionnaire (2000) with 42 questions.Data were analyzed by SPSS 20 and Pearson correlation coefficient. (r =-0.26, p˂0.05)
Results: More than 98% of women in in this study responded to all questions of the questionnaires. The findings showed that there was a significant negative relationship between sexual schemas and sexual function with marital conflicts. On the other hand, couples with positive sex schemata and high sexual function meaningfully has less marital conflicts.
Conclusion: The results of the study revealed a reverse correlation between sexual function and sexual schemas with marital conflicts. The results of this study can provide suggestions for researchers and healthcare practitioners, in the direction of prevention, by providing appropriate strategies based on scientific findings.
