Background and Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy on paranoid personality and schizotypal personality disorders in addicts.
Materials and Methods: The present study is a quasi-experimental study with pre-test, post-test, and a control group. The study population included men with addiction in Andimeshk county who were admitted to Outpatient Depression Camp in Andimeshk as hospitalized or outpatient cases. Using the available sampling method, among those who attended, 20 patients were selected after having the inclusion and exclusion criteria, which were randomly divided into two groups: mindfulness intervention group (n=10) and control group (n=10). It started on 3 June 2019 and lasted for 8 weeks.
Results: There was a significant difference between the experimental and control group regarding the paranoid and schizotypal personality disorders (p <0/0001 and F =79/90).
Conclusion: The results of this study showed that cognitive therapy based on mindfulness can have a positive effect on reducing the personality disorders of cluster A in addicts.
