Background and Aim: Stomach cancer is the most common malignancy in Iran. This cancer is the fourth most common cancer and it is known as the second leading cause of cancer deaths. The present study was carried out to investigate the prevalence of Stomach cancer in Kermanshah during 2004 to 2013 years.
Materials and Methods: This study is a retrospective historical cohort. The information is collected from health center in Kermanshah province. The sample consisted of all patients with gastric cancer during 2004 to 2013 years. Data analysis was performed using the software SPSS18 (Statistical methods descriptive).
Results: The results showed that the number of people who have been diagnosed with stomach cancer is 1904 persons. The highest frequency is related to males with the population of 1319 persons (69.28%) and the riskiest age is, 50-79 years. The highest frequency in 2011 is 261 Person with stomach cancer, and from 2011 to 2013 the incidence of stomach cancer has been reported to be decreasing.
Conclusions: according to the high number of gastric cancer, the risk factors need to be examined. The declining trend of the disease in the last two years shows the effective preventive measures that the continuation of these measures will take effective steps to reduce the cancer.
