Background And Aim: Premature neonate birth (PNB) is one of important factors to determine health level of society because many complications from these births imposes many costs to the families and society. Current study was performed to survey the prevalence of premature neonate birth and risk factors in operating room staffs of Bandarabbas educational hospitals.

Material and Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on 41 operating room staffs of Bandarabaas associated hospitals to the Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences. Data was collected through mothers and neonates demographic information and risk factors of PNB questionnaire and was analyzed by descriptive statistics, chi-square test with SPSS.

Results: Among all neonates, 42.2% were boys and 55.6% girls. The prevalence of premature neonates in this study was reported 7.66% that was no significant association between girls and boys (p=0.102). Also, there was no significant association between two normal delivery or caesarian section delivery with PNB (p=0.710). There were no significant association between factors such as mother anemia (p=0.415) and urinary tract infection (p=0.711) with PNB but history of PNB had a significant association with the last family PNB (p=0.026).

Conclusion: There was no significant association between mother’s age, neonate’s gender, preeclampsia, urinary tract infection and delivery type with PNB. In this study we found significant association between PNB with mother history of pre mature delivery (p=0.026).
