Background and Aim: Chronic kidney disease is one of the health problems in today's world. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the relationship between dialysis adequacy and happiness, life expectancy, and spiritual well-being in hemodialysis patients.
Materials and Methods: The present study was a descriptive-analytical section. The study population was all hemodialysis patients in Kordkoy in 2016. Among them, by the available sampling method, 50 patients who were referred to Amir Al-Momenin Hospital in Kordkoy were selected. Oxford Happiness Questionnaire, Schneider Life expectancy Questionnaire, and Spiritual Welfare Questionnaire (SWBS) were used to collect information. Pearson correlation test and regression were used to analyze the data.
Results: There was a significant relationship between happiness, life expectancy, and spiritual well-being with dialysis adequacy (P<0.05). Regression analysis showed that happiness, life expectancy, and spiritual well-being can explain 21.1% of the variance of dialysis adequacy.
Conclusion: In patients who have good happiness, life expectancy, and spiritual well-being, their hope for improvement and continuation of life is higher than others and the higher the life expectancy, the better the quality of dialysis will be as a result. Patients show a more appropriate response to the pressures and stresses caused by the treatment of the disease and better treatment compliance.
