Background and Aim: The issue of marital infidelity is a growing concern in Iranian society. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to predicting the attitude to marital infidelity based on sexual dysfunction, intimacy and sexual satisfaction in married men and women in Isfahan in 2017.
Material and Method: This is a descriptive correlational study that was conducted on 211 of all married men and women in Isfahan in 2017, which were selected by Cluster random sampling. Data were collected using the Whatle's Attitudes toward Infidelity Scale (2006), International Index of Erectile Function (1997), Female Sexual Function Index (2000), Larson Sexual Satisfaction Questionnaire (1998) and Walker & Thompson's Marital Intimacy Scale (1983). Data analysis was performed using SPSS 24 software.
Results: This study showed that was significantly negative relation between satisfaction (P <0.05) and marital intimacy (P <0.01) with attitude to marital infidelity in married women and also between the peak of sexual function (P <0.05), marital intimacy and sexual satisfaction with Attitude to marital infidelity in married men (P <0.01). The results of stepwise regression analysis showed that intimacy variable predicts 6.3% of variance in scores of tendency to marital infidelity (P <0.01). Also, this variable can predict 12% of the variance in the scores of tendency to marital infidelity (P <0.01). In addition, in men, sexual satisfaction variable was able to predict 6% of the variance in marital infidelity scores (P <0.05).
Conclusion: According to the findings, marital intimacy is a good predictor of tendency to marital infidelity in women and marital intimacy and sexual satisfaction are good predictors of tendency to marital infidelity in men. Accordingly, interventional measures can be taken to prevent it from happening
